金色的記憶 – Golden Heritage

Guashan is like the North Star, lighting up your path and guiding your way. Remember, Jinguashi will always be your position and aspiration.

Design Purpose /
This project aims to document and publish the stories of local elders in the Jinguashi area. Through this process, it not only enhances educational value and strengthens community understanding of local history, but also fosters interaction and connection among members of the Guashan Elementary School Alumni Association, building deep emotional bonds and reinforcing alumni cohesion.

We hope that by engaging both adults and children in a systematic approach to interviewing local elders—along with filming, publishing, and media outreach—we can ensure each stage of the project is carried out in an organized and thoughtful manner. This process allows for a deeper understanding of local cultural heritage while promoting the continuity and development of education and historical preservation.

Design Description /
The book’s binding and visual design are constructed from a rich array of local elements. The silhouette of Keelung Mountain is interwoven with intersecting soundwave motifs, forming a visual representation of “memory.” Jinguashi carries profound historical depth, and through a minimalist editorial approach, the design reflects a calm, restrained attitude toward the narration of local stories. This allows each line of text and every image to be presented in a balanced and harmonious layout, offering readers a comfortable and immersive reading experience.

The thoughtfully designed book band draws inspiration from the ridgeline of Keelung Mountain, accented with gold-mining elements. This not only enhances the book’s visual identity but also conveys the cultural value embedded within the publication. We envision this book as an interactive medium through the integration of visual design and tactile printing, inviting contemporary readers to engage with history through both sight and touch.
